Frequently asked questions.

  • Therapy is for anyone who seeks to understand themselves and their emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships better. It is for anyone who wants to live a more fulfilling and purposeful life.

  • It is very important to find a good fit with your therapist so that you feel safe exploring things that may be difficult to talk about. I hope the information on this site has been helpful for you in assessing whether I might be a good choice for you. If you’re ready to take the next step, then I encourage you to schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation with me. You will get a sense of who I am, what I’m like and you are free to ask any questions you may have. It also gives me a chance to ask about your situation so I can assess you needs. If I don’t feel that I can help you, I will tell you upfront. I encourage everyone to speak to several counselors before making a decision.

Before your first visit, please download the forms below. It is very important that you fill them out and bring them with you or email them to me prior to our session. A fair amount of information is needed, and it may take a while to fill them out all. Filling them out before the session will save us significant time to focus on other important issues.

  • Your initial 20-minute phone consultation is free of charge.

Fees are based on the usual and customary rates for psychologists in this area. Payment is expected at the time of service and is accepted in the form of cash, check or credit card. Please feel free to ask me about fees during our initial phone consultation.

There is no charge for sessions canceled with at least 48 hours’ notice. Late cancellations are subject to payment in full.

I do not accept insurance at this time and am considered an out-of-network provider. However, many insurance companies accept a “superbill” for therapy services for partial reimbursement. I’m happy to supply the required documentation. You can ask your insurance company what percentage they will reimburse you for seeing an out-of-network provider.

  • Your time slot is reserved just for you. If you unable to attend a scheduled session, please make sure to cancel by phone or email at least 48 hours in advance. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full rate of the session.

  • Sessions are usually 50 minutes in length. Longer sessions may be appropriate if deemed necessary at an additional cost.

  • The length depends on what brings you to therapy. Early on, we will work together to clearly identify your main concerns and goals. This will allow us to get a sense of how long treatment may take.

  • Therapy works most effectively with consistent attendance. I typically see clients once a week, but frequency may vary based on your concerns and goals.
